Zusammenfassung:Living with a serious mental illness (SMI) can generate many challenges and contribute to a disabling life compared to other illnesses. Such significant disabilities, resulting from issues such as severe anxiety, suicidal intent and psychotic episodes, can mean that people with SMIs often require support from informal or formal caregivers, such as close relatives or friends, to assist with everyday living.1
