Zusammenfassung:The overall aim of this analytical, comparative, quantitative study was to compare the influences of the nursing consultation on state and trait anxiety levels in two groups of minders of children in surgical situations. The scenario was a polyclinic in Rio de Janeiro City. The study took place from March to August 2012. The study population was 42 mothers of children undergoing pediatric surgery. The subjects (100% mothers) were divided into two groups: one that received pre-operatory nursing guidance (n=21) and another that did not (n=21). The mothers who received guidance displayed lower levels of anxiety.
