Zusammenfassung:At present, the great majority of questionnaires concerning burnout are set in cultural contexts of the English-speaking world, which is often inappropriate to evaluate and understand the development of the phenomenon of burnout in Hispano-American cultural contexts. It is to this end that the Spanish Burnout Inventory (SBI) was developed. The aim of this work was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the SBI. The sample consisted of 260 Chilean mine workers. The instrument is made up of 20 items distributed across four dimensions: Enthusiasm towards the job (5 items), Psychological exhaustion (4), Indolence (6) and Guilt (5 items). The data were subjected to confirmatory factor analysis in order to evaluate the factorial validity of the SBI; three alternative models were evaluated. The results show that the four-factor model has adequate psychometric properties for the study of burnout in service personnel and adjusted better than the alternate models. The study provides evidence of the adequate psychometric properties of the SBI to assess burnout. The SBI proposes a theoretical explanation for the different burnout profiles, facilitating the diagnosis and treatment in servive personnel.
