Zusammenfassung: | This article discusses how "The Newspaper in Education Program" has an impact on the reading and writing processes of the students in schools participating in "The School Media Support Workshop" during 2012-2013. The aim of the paper is to describe the transformations generated in the formative process of the communicative dimension of these students. We used a research method that consisted of an inclusive study of multiple cases which arise from the analysis of a phenomenon in various contexts. Specifically for this study, the cases were schools that participated in the program during the 2012-2013 period. The results of the study show that using the newspaper in class provides a formative experience which opens the possibility of addressing the processes of reading and writing from a contextualized view that bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world living, because it raises a reading and writing practice situated in real scenarios. El articulo aborda el tema de la lectura y de la escritura en el marco del programa Prensa Escuela. El objetivo del articulo es describir las transformaciones generadas en los procesos formativos, en la dimension comunicativa, de los estudiantes de las instituciones educativas de Medellin que han participado en el Taller de Apoyo a Medios Escolares del programa Prensa Escuela durante el periodo 2012-2013. El metodo empleado corresponde a un estudio de casos multiple inclusivo, que plantea el analisis de un fenomeno dentro de contextos diversos, que para este estudio los constituyen las instituciones educativas participantes en el programa durante el periodo 2012-2013. Los resultados del estudio muestran que la experiencia formativa del programa Prensa Escuela abre la posibilidad de abordar los procesos de lectura y escritura desde una vision contextualizada que vincula al mundo de la vida de los sujetos participantes, en la medida en que plantea practicas de lectura y de escritura situadas en escenarios reales.
