URBAN INTEGRATION AND PUBLIC POLICIES: THE CASE OF THE NATIONAL REGISTRY OF POPULAR DISTRICTS IN ARGENTINA: DECREE No 358/2017/INTEGRACION URBANA Y POLITICAS PUBLICAS: EL CASO DEL REGISTRO NACIONAL DE BARRIOS POPULARES DE ARGENTINA: DECRETO No 358/2017

The informal production of the city, as a structural component of Latin American urbanizations, finds in the production of habitat one of its most perfected territorial expressions. This article aims at discussing the implications of urban informality and the scope that an urban integration policy could have to reverse it. To do so, we analyzed Decree no 358/17, which created the National Registry of Popular Districts under Process of Urban Integration from a legal-normative perspective, as well as its connection with the policies of housing regularization that have been in place since the end of the 20th century in Argentina and in the region.
