Zusammenfassung: | Purpose: This paper aim to investigate the relationship between carbon dioxide emission, economic growth and energy consumption focusing in Malaysia.Design/methodology/approach: Regression testing approach models for 1980-- 2017 period.Findings: The hypothesis with null that there is a significant impact between CO2 emission and energy consumption and GDP is rejected at 1 percent level of significance.Research limitations/implications: There is a significant impact between CO2 emission and energy consumption and GDP. Energy consumption found that negative relationship towards CO2 emission. Gross domestic product shows positive relationship towards CO2 emission. Originality/value: Although there have been a considerable number of studies investigating the link between energy consumption, GDP and CO2 emissions in the literature (for instance; (Begum, Sohag, Abdullah, & Jaafar, 2015; Bekhet & Othman, 2018; Mugableh, 2013), searching the contribution of components of energy to CO2 emissions deserves attention. Therefore, this study contributes to the literature by investigating the effect of energy consumption and GDP on CO2 emissions in the case of Malaysia by different time period which from 1980 until 2017.Keywords: Carbon dioxide emission, Energy Consumption, Gross Domestic Product, Malaysia |
