Zusammenfassung:The tolerance should be considered through the prism of respect, recognizing the other. That is the current notion and should be fostered in order to be consolidated, with the greatest possible effectiveness, the process of internationalization of human rights, grounded in the dignity, freedom and equality, who understands the human being as a means and the end of that protective framework. Therefore, it is essential to pay attention to the issue of minority groups, which, for centuries, did not have their rights guaranteed, especially with regard to difference, diversity, self-determination, which is pressing for that inequalities are overcome. Alongside these considerations, through the hypothetical-deductive method, through a literature review on the concept of tolerance in history, this article is dedicated to demonstrate the need for the practice of tolerance for the exercise of human rights, especially the protection of minorities, based on respect. Also, highlight the Brazilian cultural diversity and the constitutional legal framework, with regard to adherence to the humanist ideal, the protection of minorities as a means of achieving overcoming inequalities through tolerance and social inclusion, enabling citizenship in the State democratic rights.
