Zusammenfassung:The research highlights a growing ethno-cultural gap between the student body and the faculty. This issue has received little attention in practice and in research, especially in Switzerland. The aim of this contribution is to analyze the potential added value of teachers and pre-service teachers from diverse backgrounds. Seven teachers and three pre-service teachers from ethno-cultural diversity were interviewed about the significance of being a role model for students and society. Findings show that participants have explicit examples of how their migration experiences enrich role model characteristics, and at the same time those experiences lead others to question their legitimacy.
