Zusammenfassung:Melioidosis is a suppurative chronic infection caused by a Gram-negative bacterium, Burkholderia pseudomallei. A 41-year-old male diabetic patient presented with fever and abdominal pain. On computed tomography scan, he was found to have splenic abscess. Culture of splenic tissue yielded B. pseudomallei. He was treated with Ceftazidime and Cotrimoxazole.
