Zusammenfassung:The aim of this study was to identify the teachers' knowledge about the teaching-learning process in health among professors from a Public University. A descriptive and qualitative approach was used, eliciting data through open, in-depth interviews with 11 university teachers. Results point to the scarcity of specific training for teaching practice in health, resulting in teaching-learning processes based in traditional teaching. At the same time the results show that as the teachers incorporate new knowledge, they prefer innovative and facilitating practices, improving the students' teaching-learning process. Thus, the reseach emphasizes the need to expand the discussion on this subject, especially regarding to the role of managerial, didactic and pedagogical training of academic staff involved in health professional education, essential to achieve the standards recommended by the National Curriculum Guidelines.
