Fecundity and family structure in Spain/Fecundidad y estructura familiar en España/Fecundidade e estrutura familiar na Espanha

The increase in non-marital fertility in Spain reflects dissociation between marriage and reproduction. The regulatory role of marriage in fertility behavior has weakened. The study analyzes the relationship between fecundity and marriage in Spain. In order to analyze to what extent marriage and fertility are interrelated variables over time, a model that attempts to capture the non-causal temporal relation ships between marriage and fertility in Spain is empirically evaluated. The key objectives of the study are to contrast the existence of a long-term balance between the two processes, the relations of causality and meaning, the exogenic or endogenic character on the long-term equilibrium relationship and the dynamic interaction analysis using an error correction model.
