Zusammenfassung: | The aim of this study was to evaluate the acute effect of a proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) session on the hip joint flexibility. 12 volunteers (6 men and 6 women) from physical education course were used for the study. The subjects were healthy non-athletes with no dysfunction that could potentially affect the tests. A sit-and-reach test was applied before and after a PNF protocol that consisted of 6 bouts of 10-second stretching and 6-second isometric contraction between bouts for the posterior thigh muscles. Pre-and post-PNF values on the sit-and-reach test were 33.08 + 7.67cm e 35.17 + 5.84cm, respectively, which corresponds to a statistically significant 6.3% increase (p = 0.0126). We conclude that the acute effect of stretching with the PNF technique is significant for flexibility increases of the hip joint. |
