Zusammenfassung:The absence of usable electronic patient records is a major irritant in the US health care system. A patient card system is convenient, involves minimal loss of records, is economically promising and has easy-to-read cards even allowing for callous handling by patients. The computer-based patient-record (CPR) system will form the foundation to meet the increasing management information requirements of large medical institutions.
