Geoffrey Barraclough: From historicism to historical science

British historian Geoffrey Barraclough is considered one of the pillars of modern history. Barraclough rise to prominence in the 1940s and 1960s was due mainly to his radical views on history. He insisted on developing a new historical perspective that does not focus solely on European history. Moreover, Barraclough emphasized the need to make history relevant in the present time. A discussion of Barraclough's illustrious career and the change he underwent to arrive at his new historical perspective is presented.
