Zusammenfassung:There are many ideas on how to improve the preparation of teachers. Most suggestions, however, do not address teaching in a multicultural environment. Therefore, after a historical examination of the socio-cultural forces which influenced teacher preparation, a proposal for a redesigned laboratory school is offered as one possible solution to the call for improving the delivery of education in a changing society.
