Zusammenfassung:The education of the rural population has been studied by different popular social movements that believe that the biggest challenge is to build cultural and political references in order to prepare these people to actively intervene as social subjects in the reality in which they are part. Thus, this work aimed to know the productive practices developed by rural producers, the relationship between empirical knowledge and scientific knowledge for the development of their work and the public policies developed for rural populations in the municipality of Irituia--Para. For data collection, direct observation, informal conversation and cross-sectional walks were adopted on issues related to social organization, community reality, way of life, food production, the collective work of the cooperative and public policies. Farmers reported that through the cooperative they managed to implement agroforestry systems that brought improvements to the environment, production and quality of life for farmers. Formal education is present and influential in improving the family business since, by reconciling academic and empirical knowledge, it promotes increased agricultural productivity. Farmers highlighted the lack of investment by public authorities in the region, especially in relation to the provision of quality education for children and young people in the countryside, they also highlighted the deficiencies in health care for people in the community. It was noticed that public policies related to education and health still do not fully meet the needs of subjects who live and work in the countryside. Keywords: Education in the countryside. A educacao da populacao do campo vem sendo estudada por diferentes movimentos populares sociais que acreditam que o maior desafio e construir referenciais culturais e politicos no intuito de preparar essas pessoas para intervirem ativamente como sujeitos sociais na realidade em que fazem parte. Assim, esse trabalho teve como objetivo conhecer as praticas produtivas desenvolvidas pelos produtores rurais, a relacao dos saberes empiricos com os conhecimentos cientificos para o desenvolvimento do seu trabalho e as politicas publicas desenvolvidas para as populacoes do campo no municipio de Irituia--Para.
