Zusammenfassung:Innovations are seen as the result of intentional actions. Therefore, building and monitoring environments that favor them proves to be necessary for the structuring of an effective innovative culture, ensuring, in this way, the potentialization of innovation in the organization. In the present study, the Octagon of Innovation tool was applied in a public educational institution located in the city of Recife-PE, in order to analyze the institution's innovative potential. For this, a qualitative and descriptive research was carried out, making use of the case study technique, using a questionnaire to obtain the data used in the study. Through the analysis of the practices carried out by the institution and the results acquired through the questionnaire, it was possible to conclude that the Octagon of Innovation tool allows the manager a broader view of which dimensions need to be reinforced so that there is greater effectiveness in the implementation of innovation. Through the application of the tool, it was possible to observe that the institution has a greater deficit in the funding dimension, which is one of the most in need of improvement. The Strategy, Leadership, Process and Culture dimensions showed good levels, which demonstrates that the institution has good management of the resources it has. Keywords: Innovation. Logo, construir e monitorar ambientes que as favorecam mostra-se necessario para a estruturacao de uma cultura inovativa eficaz, garantindo, dessa forma, a potencializacao da inovacao na organizacao. No presente estudo, foi aplicada a ferramenta do Octogono da inovacao em uma instituicao publica de ensino localizada na cidade de Recife-PE, visando analisar o potencial inovativo da instituicao. Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa e descritiva, com o uso da tecnica de estudo de caso, utilizando um questionario para a obtencao dos dados utilizados no estudo. Por meio da analise das praticas realizadas pela instituicao e dos resultados adquiridos atraves do questionario, foi possivel concluir que a ferramenta do Octogono da inovacao possibilita ao gestor uma visao mais ampla de quais dimensoes precisam ser reforcadas para haver uma maior eficacia na implementacao da inovacao.
