MD Simulations of Collision Cascades in [alpha]-Ti. Cluster Statistics and Governing Mechanisms of Point Defect Cluster Formation

Zusammenfassung:A comprehensive statistical treatment is conducted to analyse the outcomes of MD simulations of collision cascades in [alpha]-titanium in a wide range of primary knocked-on atoms (PKAs) energy 5 keV [Formula omitted] 25 keV and irradiation temperature 100 K [Formula omitted] 900 K. The fractions of vacancies [Formula omitted] and interstitial atoms [Formula omitted] in clusters of point defects formed in individual cascades and their average values [Formula omitted] and [Formula omitted], the average sizes of vacancy [Formula omitted] and interstitial [Formula omitted] clusters, and the average number of vacancy [Formula omitted] and interstitial [Formula omitted] clusters per cascade are evaluated. The physical mechanisms that determine the dependence of [Formula omitted], [Formula omitted], [Formula omitted], [Formula omitted], [Formula omitted], and [Formula omitted] on simulation parameters [Formula omitted] have been proposed.
