PERIPHERAL DEVELOPMENT AND CHILD LABOR: Oral history of life at the central fair in Campina Grande in the 1960s and 1970s/DESENVOLVIMENTO PERIFERICO E TRABALHO INFANTIL: Historia oral de vida na feira central de Campina Grande nas decadas de 1960 e 1970

This article aims to reflect on the social relations of child labor at the open market in Campina Grande in Paraiba and on the legislation applied to child labor. To this end, we resort to a bibliographic review regarding the development of Northeastern Agreste, the theories of imperialism, the development of underdevelopment, globalization, as well as the literature and legislation relevant to child labor in Brazil and in the world. As a methodology for empirical work, we use oral life history through open and free interviews with social actors inserted in the social reality of the informal economy of the open market. We conclude that the practical experience does not reflect the dictates of the current legislation. Keywords: Peripheral development; Child labor; Free market; Oral life history. Este artigo tem o objetivo de fazer uma reflexao sobre as relacoes sociais do trabalho infantil na feira livre de Campina Grande na Paraiba e da legislacao aplicada ao trabalho infantil. Para tal recorremos a revisao bibliografica referente ao desenvolvimento do Agreste nordestino, as teorias do imperialismo, do desenvolvimento do subdesenvolvimento, da mundializacao, como tambem da literatura e legislacao pertinente ao trabalho infantil no Brasil e no mundo. Como metodologia para o trabalho empirico, empregamos a historia oral de vida atraves de entrevistas abertas e livres com atores sociais inseridos na realidade social de economia informal da feira livre.
