Executive functions (EF) are a cognitive domain of great relevance for humans. However, there is a lack of reviews that analyze the relationship between fluid intelligence (IF) and EF in the lifespan. This study aimed to examine, through a literature review, the relationship between FI, assessed by the Raven Progressive Matrices Test, and EFs in different periods of life. The databases used were: PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, SciELO, Web of Science, BIREME, Google scholar and ProQuest databases, using the descriptors executive functions, fluid intelligence and Raven test, in June 2020. The search resulted in 367 potential articles to compose the review. After applying the exclusion criteria, 13 articles were selected and analyzed. Working memory was the component of EF most studied and associated with FI in all age groups. Despite the evidence, more research needs to be developed to better understand the magnitude of this relationship, taking into account the physiological, cognitive, sociocultural aspects and individual differences in development process. Entretanto, existe um desprovimento de estudos de revisao que analisem a relacao entre inteligencia fluida e funcoes executivas no ciclo vital. Este estudo teve como objetivo examinar, por meio de revisao da literatura, a relacao entre inteligencia fluida, avaliada pelo Teste das Matrizes Progressivas de Raven, e funcoes executivas nos diferentes periodos de vida. As bases de dados consultadas foram: PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, SciELO, Web of Science, BIREME, Google scholar e ProQuest, utilizando os descritores executive functions, fluid intelligence e Raven test, em junho de 2020. A busca resultou em 367 artigos potenciais para compor a revisao. Apos a aplicacao dos criterios de exclusao, 13 artigos foram selecionados e analisados na integra. A memoria de trabalho foi o componente das funcoes executivas mais estudado e associado a inteligencia fluida em todas as faixas etarias. Apesar das evidencias, mais pesquisas precisam ser desenvolvidas para compreender melhor a magnitude desta relacao, atendendo aos aspectos fisiologicos, cognitivos, socioculturais e as diferencas individuais no processo de desenvolvimento.
