Labor, Career and Maternity: Perspectives and Dilemmas of Contemporary Professionals Women/Trabalho, Carreira e Maternidade: Perspectivas e Dilemas de Mulheres Profissionais Contemporaneas

The case presents the life and career trajectory of Marrie Ometto and outlines decisions around the dilemmas involving career and motherhood. Nele Marrie recalls her dilemma where, after the birth of her daughter, and in the midst of various inner conflicts, she doubted whether or not to abandon her career. Data were collected through two free interviews given by Marrie to the authors. Other data that make up the story were found in the book written by the protagonist and also in Marrie's blog. The case is told from the point of view of the character and proposes that the students analyze the decisions and dilemmas faced by contemporary professional women for the maintenance of their careers, while proposing a reflection on the challenges faced by them in the which concerns the career, maternity and professional qualification equation. The case also offers the challenge of formulating the necessary premises to evaluate why the difficult balance between personal and professional life is at the root of the dissatisfaction expressed by a large number of women. The results obtained can be discussed and confronted in the classroom with several researches in the field of people management that point out that women feel happier when they can balance career and family. O caso apresenta a trajetoria de vida e carreira da executiva Marrie Ometto e traca um panorama sobre decisoes em torno dos dilemas envolvendo, carreira e maternidade. Nele Marrie relembra o dilema vivido por ela onde, apos o nascimento da filha e, em meios a varios conflitos interiores, ficou em duvida se deveria ou nao abandonar a carreira. Os dados foram coletados atraves de duas entrevistas livres concedidas por Marrie as autoras. Outros dados que compoem a historia foram encontrados no livro escrito pela protagonista e tambem no blog de Marrie. O caso e contado a partir do ponto de vista da personagem e propoe que os alunos analisem as decisoes e dilemas enfrentados por mulheres profissionais contemporaneas para a manutencao de suas carreiras, ao mesmo tempo em que propoe uma reflexao a respeito dos desafios enfrentados por elas no que diz respeito a equacao carreira, maternidade e qualificacao profissional.
