Child Sex Tourism into Question in the Context of the 2014 World Cup/Turismo sexual infanto-juvenil em xeque no contexto da Copa do Mundo de 2014

This study aims to analyze the issue of child sex tourism (CST) and their correlations with sport mega-events tanking into consideration the implementation of preventive public policy in in the host city of Recife--located in the Northeast Brazil--due to the 2014 Football World Cup. Through a qualitative approach based on a three-year longitudinal study--interviews, observations and photographs--the theme will be analyzed taking into account the social aspects entangled, and the implications of excluded sectors of society in the organization of so-called mega-events. Although in the short term, the results obtained in the analyzed projects have been satisfactory, in the long run, effective social and educational measures must be prioritized to improve the situation of the actors involved. As part of a sport mega-event, the topic of CST remains marginal, particularly in countries where the social inequality persists, as well as gender issues. Keywords: 2014 World Cup; Public Policy; Child Sex Tourism; Mega-events O presente estudo analisa a questao do turismo sexual (TS) infanto-juvenil e suas correlacoes com os megaeventos esportivos, a partir da implementacao de uma politica publica preventiva na cidade de Recife--regiao nordeste do Brasil--,em razao da Copa do Mundo de Futebol 2014. Atraves de um estudo qualitativo com duracao de tres anos--entrevistas, observacoes e fotografias--, a questao do TS infanto-juvenil e investigada, levando-se em consideracao os aspectos sociais enredados, bem como o envolvimento de setores societarios excluidos na organizacao dos chamados megaeventos. Embora, em curto prazo, a implementacao de uma politica publica preventiva tenha sido satisfatoria, em longo prazo, mostram-se necessarias medidas efetivas para que, de fato, haja mudancas na situacao dos individuos implicados. No contexto dos grandes eventos esportivos, a tematica relativa ao TS infanto-juvenil permanece incipiente, notadamente em regioes onde a desigualdade social persevera, assim como as questoes relativas ao genero.
