Public space and periphery in contemporary city: between the needs and possibilities/Espaco publico e periferia na cidade contemporanea: entre as necessidades e as possibilidades

We propose in this article an underlying reflection to the city production process with emphasis on the use of public spaces. Therefore, we consider the reverse path (or unconventional). In other words, we analyze the way the city is structured from its peripheral areas, where the neighborhoods that have lower incomes in a medium Parana city. This perspective examines the relationship between citizens and their public spaces, considering the daily socio-spatial practices in them are established as a representation of the different uses the city, or part of it, as well as incorporating the research process the opinion of those who live in it, that is, it gives voice to the citizen. The results point to a process that constantly redefines public spaces as an expression of the city's production process, its contradictions, conflicts and reflexes. At the same time promotes policies as spectacle sites, these peripheral areas are also relegated to oblivion by the loss of some key functions. However, and therefore, these spaces are characterized by their multifunctionality, the place of possible political act, the claim, the party, the playfulness and improvisation, emphasizing the public nature and contributing to a sense of the production of space public in the contemporary city. Propomos neste manuscrito (1) uma reflexao imanente ao processo de producao da cidade, com enfase para o uso dos espacos publicos, percorrendo um caminho inverso ou, ao menos, nao convencional. Buscarmos analisar a estruturacao da cidade a partir das suas areas perifericas, considerando os bairros que apresentam menores rendas, em uma cidade media paranaense. Nossa perspectiva esteve pautada na analise da relacao entre o cidadao e seus espacos publicos, considerando as praticas socioespaciais cotidianas que neles se estabelecem enquanto representacao dos diferentes usos cidade, ou parte dela, alem de incorporar no processo de pesquisa a opiniao daqueles que nela vivem, ou seja, dar voz ao cidadao. Os resultados apontam para um processo que expressa uma redefinicao constante dos espacos publicos enquanto expressao do processo de producao da cidade, das suas contradicoes, conflitos e reflexos. Ao mesmo tempo em que se fazem notar por meio da promocao de politicas de promocao enquanto locais do espetaculo, tambem sao relegados ao esquecimento pela perda de algumas funcoes principais.
