Zusammenfassung:The effect of mechanical activation of the batch on the glassmaking process and on the uniformity of the glass obtained is examined. The object of investigation is a refractory sital glass. The mechanical activation of the batch was done by fine comminution of the glass in a planetary mill to specific surface area of the powder obtained 0.9 m 2 /g. It is shown that the silicate- and glass-formation processes in the activated batch are shifted by 50 – 150°C toward lower temperatures. The mechanically activated batch makes it possible to synthesize glass with a more uniform composition than in the case of unactivated batch; this makes it possible to obtain sital with a highly uniform glass-ceramic structure.
