Zusammenfassung:This paper investigates the literary representation of two cities; Santiago in Chile, and Mexico City and the socio-sexual imagery of the urban route that the main characters make in two Latin American fictions: Vaca sagrada (1991) by Diamela Eltit and Demasiado amor (1990) by Sara Sefchovich. The function of the city houses of prostitution will not be analyzed, but rather their representation as houses of prostitution through a working literary definition of the word in literature, and from the Latin definition of the verb, where words like prostitute, prostitution, and houses of prostitution, among others, come from. Keywords: City. Latin American literature. Bodies. Prostitution. Literatura latino-americana. Corpos. Prostituicao.
