A new and different way to be feminist: starring "Riot Grrrl"/Um jeito diferente e "novo" de ser feminista: em cena, o Riot Grrrl

Riot Grrrl, is a movement of youth culture that encompasses music, feminism, art, literature, cinema and politics. Emerging in the 1990s, it was created by a group of girls to challenge the gender relations present in the punk rock culture, by promoting participation and ownership of the scenario being created, and by questioning the social roles reserved for women. It has become an instrument for propagation of integrated themes of the feminist agenda. Given the invisibility of both adolescent and youth issues within feminism, and focusing on analysis of Riot Grrrl, the present article proposes reflections on what this signifies for feminism, analyzing how the questions they propose, considering the subjects they deal with and the public they articulate, can help to overcome the gap between feminism, adolescence and youth. O Riot Grrrl, movimento de cultura juvenil que abrange musica, feminismo, arte, literatura, cinema e politica, surgido nos anos 1990, foi criado por um grupo de garotas para contestar as relacoes de genero presentes na cultura punk rock, propiciar a participacao e apropriacao do cenario por este criado, bem como a sua utilizacao para questionar os papeis sociais reservados as mulheres, constituindo-se num instrumento de propagacao de temas que integram a agenda feminista. Considerando a invisibilidade dos temas adolescencia e juventude ambito do feminismo e tendo como foco de analise o Riot Grrrl, o presente artigo propoe uma reflexao sobre o seu significado para o feminismo, analisando como os questionamentos que propoem, considerando os temas que abordam e o publico que articula, podem contribuir para superar a lacuna existente entre feminismo, adolescencia e juventude.
