Zusammenfassung:[Li.sub.6]Ca[B.sub.3][O.sub.8.5]:[Tb.sup.3+] phosphor was synthesized by the solution combustion synthesis method. The synthesized phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The morphology of the synthesized material was studied using SEM. The emission and excitation spectra of the synthesized phosphors were measured at room temperature with a spectrofluorometer. [Li.sub.6]Ca[B.sub.3][O.sub.8.5]:[Tb.sup.3+] phosphors were excited at 240 nm wavelength. The emission spectra consisted of four bands, in which the dominant green luminescence emission of [Li.sub.6]Ca[B.sub.3][O.sub.8.5]:[Tb.sup.3+], attributed to the transition [sup.5][D.sub.4] → [sup.7][F.sub.5], is centered at 548 nm. [Li.sub.6]Ca[B.sub.3][O.sub.8.5]:[Tb.sup.3+] phosphors emit green light under UV excitation.
