Zusammenfassung:NACLA CELEBRATES its thirtieth anniversary by inaugurating this special essay series. In this five-part series, prominent intellectuals and activists who have been long affiliated with NACLA will reflect on the past 30 years of Latin American history and politics through the prism of key ideas and concepts-imperialism, religion, human rights/democracy, development/social justice and Marxism/socialism. NACLA hopes that these essays will help stimulate debate about how these concepts have shaped our understanding of Latin American politics in the past, and how they can help us understand the region's future.
