Zusammenfassung: | The purpose of this study was to describe children's self- reported non-school activities. Previous research has shown that children rarely engage in sustained vigorous physical activity during the school day. A total of 247 fourth and fifth grade students recorded in an open-ended diary the activities they had participated in the previous day. Data were obtained from the five-day logs of their out-of-school activities. Children in this study reported most of their non-school activities were non-physical in nature. In addition, it would appear unlikely that the majority of the reported physical activities provided for aerobic fitness development. |
