Zusammenfassung: | In the plains of north-western Syria, not far from the course of the Tigris, is the Tell Barri site, identified with the city of Kahat. This is a centre well-known during the second millennium for the presence of the temple of the god of the storm and for the palace of Tukulti-Ninurta II, Assyrian king of the 9th century BC. The archaeological sequence brought to light in this site goes from the beginning of the third millennium up to the fourteenth century AD. From the Sumerian, Akkadian, Old-Babylonian, Assyrian evidence to the Achaemenid, Hellenistic, Parthian, Sassanid-Byzantine and finally medieval occupation. The volume illustrates the results of the excavation of the seventeenth campaign conducted by the University of Florence and the "Federico II" University of Naples. |
