Zusammenfassung:Microwave sensors allow for the nondestructive measurement of moisture in diverse materials (except metals) in contact mode as well as in standoff mode (non-contact) even for big object distances. Beside of the qualitative and quantitative determination of moisture the imaging of the two-dimensional moisture distribution is feasible with multiaxial scanners. For the qualitative moisture determination a calibration is necessary with the help of specimens exhibiting different and known moisture. Arbitrary complex moisture profiles can be reconstructed with the help of pattern recognition algorithms, For that purpose extensive calibration data sets can be needed in dependence on the complexity of the test object and its moisture distribution.
