Effects of different plant densities on yield and quality characteristics of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.)

It was aimed to research the effect of different row spacing (20x10, 20x20, 30x10, 30x20, 40x10, 40x20, 50x10, 50x20 cm) on the yield and quality characteristics of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.). In this study was conducted in the experimental fields of the Field Crops, Department of Agricultural Faculty in Ege University, in the growing periods of 2007 and 2008. In the trial, the plants were harvested four times in every each year experiment. At the same time, the plant height (cm), fresh herbage yield , drog herbage yield ,drog leaves yield ,essential oil rate and essential oil components were determined. It was obtained the better results in the second year in this study than in the first year. Bu çalışmada, farklı dikim sıklıklarının Ocimum basilicum L. bitkisinde verim ve kalite özelliklerine etkisini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Ege Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü deneme tarlasında 2007 ve 2008 yıllarında iki yıl süreyle yürütülen bu araştırmada 20x10, 20x20, 30x10, 30x20, 40x10, 40x20, 50x10 ve 50x20 cm dikim sıklığı uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın her iki yılında da dörder biçim yapılmış, bitki boyu , yeşil herba verimi , drog herba verimi , drog yaprak verimi , uçucu yağ oranı ve bileşimi incelenmiştir.
