Zusammenfassung:Finding a late-ripening, high-quality, well-adopted pear varieties pases a fundamental problem for Hungarian production. Organoleptic judging has been conducted to observe the consumer demand for a new type of winter pears. This pear variety research was performed in Zala-county, one of the most important pear-growing regions of Hungary. The novely varieties were compared with the Beurre Bosc based on organoleptic judging by size and shape of the fruit, the colour and texture of the skin, and the firmness and flavour of the fruit flesh. Bronzovaja and Noyarbskaya, originating from Moldova, seem to be promising varieties for growers as a result of the experiment.
