Zusammenfassung:The paper presents analyzing data in fruit growing, both continental and subtropical, and actual state in development of this part of agriculture in Montenegro. Total agricultural land in estimated period (2002-2006) was around 515,400 ha, with 7,600 ha under fruit orchards, that is 2.2% of total agricultural land. According to the official statistical data during this period, total number of trees was 3.5 millions, or 3.15 millions of trees of productive age. Total yield in estimated period was 31,250 t, with main apart in production of plum, apple, fig, citrus and peach. All fruit species, except peach and citrus, are grown as extensive farming, in croft or small orchards with no or scarce agricultural measures. All of these caused very low yield in lot of mentioned species. Revitalization will be necessary, and it should be done in introduction of new variety of all grown species. Investments in education of private fruit grower and production of quality scion are the first step. The better quality and quantity of yield, with establishing of new orchards is the main task in next period.
