Zusammenfassung:Selection of cornel cultivars has been performed at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, Serbia, during ten years. High fruit quality, large fruits and flesh ratio being higher than 75% are important parameters in cornel selection. Cornel fruits are nutritious, either fresh or processed. These are also ecologically safe food, since no application of pesticides is necessary in growing of this fruit variety. Further development of cornel selection from natural populations shall enable formation of collection and direct research to find optimal technologies for production of cornel nursery plants.
