Zusammenfassung: | In order to identify a preservative devoid of heavy metals as a substitute for silver thio-sulfate which contains heavy metals, the effect of the application of alpha-aminoisobutyric acid (AIB) on the prolongation of the vase life of cut carnation flowers was examined. The use of a 20mM AIB solution in the vase enabled to preserve the freshness of cut carnations. When a 30mM AIB solution was used for pretreatment the vase life was also extended. The effect of the AIB pretreatment on the preservation of the freshness, however, fluctuated and decreased when the room temperature increased |
