Zusammenfassung:	Water culture experiments, a laboratory experiment and a field survey were conducted to analyze the effect of canal waters drained from tropical woody peat areas distributed in Peninsular Thailand on the elongation of rice roots and to determine whether some toxic compounds were present in the waters.
