Zusammenfassung:The research findings from the three village studies in Bangladesh by the author are partially summarized as follows: 1) The adoption of High Yielding Varieties (HYVs) of rice, and other cereal crops technology concerning the use of modern inputs began in the area well ahead. In the area for the adoption of HYVs crop irrigation plays an important role. 2) The difference in acreage under HYVs crops and per acre yield among the cultivators under different farms was considered mainly due to the difference in the availability of irrigation water facilities. 3) The trend of using irrigation water by different methods under different crops in the area has been observed upward. 4) Irrigation as an important input can help a lot to increase agricultural production and makes waves for the possibility of multiple cropping. And the increased production through multiple cropping can provide additional employment opportunities as well as balanced diet and economic return for the society as a whole. 5) Socio-economic differences among the farmers in the villages were due to the ownership pattern of land and cash capital/money
