The Japanese species of the genus cerodontha are revised' Of the 30 species studied, 5 are new to science, C. (Icteromyza) ecaudata, C. (poemyza) chonoterminalis and togashii, and C. (Butomomyza) eminula and hakusana, and 4 species are recorded newly.
