Zusammenfassung:Ovomucin was separated into carbohydrate rich and poor components by chromatography on lysozyme-Sepharose 4B. The carbohydrate rich component was eluted with 1 mm phosphate buffer, pH 7.0, and the carbohydrate poor component was eluted with 0.1 m borate buffer, pH 8.0, containing 0.5m NaCl. It was shown by chemical analysis that the carbohydrate rich component corresponds to F-component or β-ovomucin and that the carbohydrate poor component corresponds to S-component or α-ovomucin.
