Clinical and pathological evaluation of experimental leptospirosis with Leptospira interrogans serovar pomona in opossum (Didelphis albiventris)

Experimental leptospirosis using pathogenic strain of Leptospira interrogans serovar pomona, Marcos Paz, was carried out in six opossums (Didelphis albiventris). No clinical signs were observed, but hematocrit, haemoglobin and red blood cells were diminished (P 0.005), while white cell increased in comparison with non inoculated animals (P 0.005). Up to 16th post inoculation days, all animals were negative with microscopic agglutination test. There were no macroscopic and histologic lesion in the investigated samples
