Zusammenfassung:This research paper deals with the sources of sexual information in one school in Finland. Sources that are investigated closer, were: school, home, different people, television, cinema, magazines, newspapers, radio, theatre and books. My chosen topic is important because there is not enough research available about the subject. Researches conducted previously deal with only the traditional sources of information- like school, home and friends. This paper analyzes a wider range of sources of sexual information. The purpose of the survey is to find out from which sources and to which extent adolescents in a school in Finland get sexual information. The hypothesis of the work is that daughters receive more sexual information from their mothers, boys from their fathers- this hypothesis is based on the results from previous studies (Laszus et al. 2011). As a research method, a questionnaire was used. Answering was voluntary and anonymous. The survey was conducted in all the 8th grades in the school used. A total of 132 students took part in the research, 75 of them were boys and 57 were girls. The average age of the participants was 14,3 years. The questionnaire included two questions for each information source- the first question was about the degree of the information of sexual information sources (on a scale: very much, much, a little and not at all) and the other specified the source in more detail. It gave the respondent the possibility to mark all the specifications about the source of sexual information. If the respondent didn’t find a suitable answer, he/she could mark it ”other” and specify. The goals of the research were fulfilled, but the hypothesis was partly confirmed. Girls do get more sexual information from their mothers than fathers, but boys get the knowledge equally from their mothers and fathers. Adolescents get most sexual information from the internet, from social web networks and ”elsewhere”. ”Elsewhere” was marked by pornographic websites, Wikipedia, different weblinks and ”other” sites. Boys got more sexual information from the internet than girls. Also relevant sources of information were different people- the most important being the teacher, but as well friends, mother, doctor/physician, aquaintances. Girls got more information than boys from these sources. Television and cinema also play a significant role as sources of sexual information. 94% of the students had gotten sexual information from the television, most of all films, so
