Zusammenfassung:Scanning from an original document. Founded towards the end of the sixteenth century by Italian squires, Angers' Academy of Horse Riding became famous until its abolition in 1792, attracting many foreign students, particularly German, Dutch, Anglo-Saxon or Scandinavian. The album, where the students of Pierre Baullain, the fencing master of this institution, and his successor, M. Jamain, testify to such an influence. It contains 143 names, usually accompanied by coats of arms, a motto and a formula of dedication to the master of arms. These autograph inscriptions, all made in Angers, concern mainly the years 1613-1636. Two are dated to 1642, nine others, addressed to Mr. Jamain, from 1671-1672 (f. 29v, 95v, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 108v, 109). The signatory students are German, Dutch, Danish or Artesian (cf. FRIJHOFF, “Foreign students...,” 1977, p. 13-84).  Content detail: - Title page: “Coat of arms of the pupils of Sr Baullain, master of arms, in Angers (1613-1676). - Volume of 123 leaflets, 27 November 1871”; - P. 1.
