Zusammenfassung: | It began to be published in January 1850 with the subtitle “newspaper of material interests” by its owner and director Augusto de Burgos (1813-), editor and journalist specialized in agriculture and cattle raising, who had previously edited Revista barcelonesa (1847) and was the author of dictionaries and manuals on these matters. In August of that year he absorbs Semanario agrífico, of the doctor in medicine and professor Antonio Blanco Fernández (-1873), who from February seven to July 18 had appeared on Thursday in numbers of eight pages, stamped in the printing press of the lords Andrés y Díaz.
The magazine directed by Augusto de Burgos, with an editorial line different from that maintained by Blanco Fernández’s weekly magazine, will reduce the decline of agriculture in Spain to farmers themselves, merchants and industrialists and to the scarcity of population, and will put its emphasis on the “regeneration” of the owners, given their lack of knowledge, as well as on financing and investments. The publication will be considered an “apostle of intellectual progress and organ at the same time as the material interests of the labrador class.”
Its ideology is to give an exact idea of agricultural doctrines, to update the elements of science and to form “the framework” of knowledge through articles. Its contents are structured in sections and in the so-called Agricultural will insert technical and dissemination texts on the large crops, and in the official one, normative provisions. It has a historical part, in which it accounts for the activity of the General Agricultural Board, which was born the previous year and of which it seems to be its spokesman. It also publishes memories and articles of political and rural economy.
Other sections are industrial, commercial and variety, with information on technical advances and news from provinces. It includes articles and commercial and industrial information and news comments from other newspapers. It also publishes an agricultural, industrial and commercial bulletin, with the prices of agricultural products and the quotations of the stock market of Madrid, as well as the meteorological part. It also accommodates advertisements, in the end.
Publishes by deliveries Agricultural booklet or handbook of theory-practical agriculture, general considerations about the current state of agriculture in Europe, as well as texts on the importance of irrigation, Navarre and Rioja wines, the cultivation of cotton, knights bre |
