Zusammenfassung:In the sections carried out about 150 m away from the seashore we identified the vestiges of the Roman-Byzantine houses, the pavements of two streets oriented to the N-S and NE-SW (the street leading to the west gate of the fortress and to the port facilities, respectively), and a well with the inner diameter of 0.80 m, reused both during the mediaeval period and during the modern one. The Roman-Byzantine pottery that might be dated to the 5th – 6th centuries is richly represented by fragmentary amphoras with small channellings, pots, and fragmentary jugs. We also discovered a fragmentary marble mortarium and a series of ancient and Ottoman coins that are to be cleaned in the laboratory of the museum. The Ottoman material is also richly represented by plates, bowls, fragmentary jugs and a pipe that might be dated to the 17th century.
