Raport arheologic: Săvârșin/comuna: Săvârșin/județul: Arad/punct: Cetățuie (2010)

The Coțofeni culture settlement here belongs to the 3rd phase of internal development of the culture. What is new in the situation is the fact that in the west area of this culture we discovered only settlements with one or maximum two levels. Therefore, the identification at Săvârșin ”Cetățuie” of four Coțofeni culture levels the view upon these communities begins to get clearer. In the upper levels (III-IV) we identified many Kostolac elements, reflected by the decoration of the small cups with successive impressions arranged in triangles and the low bowls decorated with rows of successive impressions. The discovery having more important chronological implications is reflected by the occurrence of Baden culture pottery imports also an unusual fact for the zone where we stand. These sherds ensure the parallelization of the final phase of the Coțofeni culture with the final phase of the Baden culture.
