Zusammenfassung: | In the area called 'Turnul Comandant’ we continued the examination in the section S 1A, where a house (3.80 x 3.30 m), mentioned as the Complex 1/2010 was identified, in c.3 - 4, at -2.20 - -2.27 m comparing to the actual ground level. The house had a yellow clay floor and stone walls (in the lower part where they are about 0.50-0.54 m thick), wood walls (we identified three pole holes on the middle of the north, west and south sides), and a kiln in the central-southern area. The kiln shows two phases, presenting reparation at its entrance, during the last phase. In both phases the fireplace was set on a bed of small and medium size gravel, broken bricks and ceramics, and ceramics, small gravel and yellow clay. The kiln entrance is oriented to N-NW, and its walls were made of stone and brick pieces, upon which there was yellow clay. At the foundation, the kiln is 1.20 x 1.04 m in size, presenting an oval shape. Its fireplace is slightly trough shaped, very cracked and its height was about 30 cm, noticing that the upper part was opened. The whole complex is dated to the 11th century A.D. The digging was done on the whole surface of section S1A, in the early medieval level, without finding other complexes. The archaeological material includes pottery (11th century), coins (3 samples), clay and stone household objects (spindle weights, fishing net weights, whetstones), bronze and iron objects (rings, spikes) etc. The material was stored at the Museum of National History and Archaeology in Constanța. |
