Archaeological report: Sarmizegetusa Regia/Garden/commune: OrăRaport de Sus/Raport: Hunedoara/dot: Gardenesti Hill (2010)

The 2010 archaeological campaign from Grădiștea de Munte continued the previous excavation on the Terrace III, inside the fortification, and on the point called Căprăreața II, in the eastern civilian quarter. On Terrace III the exploration was completed in S I/2009, of 21 x 2 m, and a new trench, S I/2010, of 15.5 x 2 m, was started. In both trenches archaeological complexes were missing and the only material (pottery, bronze and iron objects) was discovered in the cultural layer. At Căprăreața II, the surface SPIII/2009 was enlarged becoming the surface SPI/2010, of 9 x 4.5 m, with the purpose of finding the limits of the construction identified in 2008-2009. The limits of the construction was identified to the west and probably north, but it may be continued to the south. On the same terrace, a new surface was open, SPIV/2010, of 7.5x5 m, where there were discovered two sides of a quadrilateral building, marked by rows of stones, which bordered an area with a huge amount of pottery. The research in SPIV/2010 was not finished.
