Raport arheologic: Sântana/comuna: or. Sântana/județul: Arad/punct: Cetatea Veche (2009)

The mounting of a gas pipe would have affected a side of the third fortification at Sântana - Cetatea Veche. Because of that between the 17th of September and the 30th of November 2009 we practiced three sections that involved both the fortification system and the occupation behind it. The main purpose of the investigation was to survey the fortification system of the third precincts (3rd fortification). The stratigraphical observations and archaeological materials discovered make it possible to date the moment of the building, operation and later destruction of the 3rd fortification at Sântana - Cetatea Veche. In the various earth lenses making up the "core" of the vallum, in an obvious secondary position, we found sherds that may be attributed to a late phase of the Bronze Age.
