Raport arheologic: Durostorum/Ostrov/comuna: Ostrov/județul: Constanța/punct: Ferma 4 (2008)

In the 2008 campaign (for ancient Durostorum and previous excavation on this site, see n. 1) we have resumed excavation in Sector I Thermae, aiming at discovering details concerning the two buildings identified there. We focused especially on both structures’ eastern limits, as well as other details for the area west of the baths complex and Building no. 3’s western limit respectively. The baths complex. Eastward investigations have evinced –again– the fact that the entire area ceased to be used, but in the present state of investigation we cannot establish if this area belongs to the first or second phase of the building’s functioning. We uncovered a continuation for the northward trajectory of the eastern limit-wall, as well as the substruction of a basin. We have also investigated there two trajectories of pipelines made of ceramic tubes bound with mortar. On three tubes we have discovered the stamps of the legio XI Claudia. Building no. 3. We have discovered traces of foundations for a wall that probably represented the portico’s western limit. The necropolis. We have finalized excavation on graves nos. 3 and 12 (M3 and M12).
